Many people spend more time in planning the wedding than they do in planning the marriage.

Made in heaven, the Amazon prime original series released on Women’s day is a classic blend of emotions with the support of strong, fearless acting by the cast.

Made in Heaven Rating: 4 stars
Made in Heaven Cast: Arjun Mathur, Shobita Dhulipala, Jim Sarbh, Kalki Koechlin, Shashank Arora and Shivani Raghuvanshi
Made in Heaven Creators: Zoya Akhtar and Reema Kagti
Made in Heaven IMDb Rating: 8.5 stars

Made in Heaven unfolds through two friends, Karan Mehra (Arjun Mathur) and Tara Khanna (Shobita Dhulipala) running a Wedding planning company of the same name, with a leading financer as Adil Khanna (Jim Sarbh) husband of Tara Khanna. While Karan Mehra is a gay in closet, Tara Khanna is a decorated wife of Adil.

Made in Heaven talks about the problems that befall during weddings like dowry, impotency, privacy issues, blind faith, guilt etc which is more than just tents, venue and catering that a wedding planner does. Made in Heaven unravels a lot of secrets behind the big fat weddings, the secrets that never make it to the surface via pre-wedding photos and videos of Facebook and Instagram.

As their wedding planning company gets a new client every episode, we get to see a darker truth behind Indian weddings every episode. Starting with a family getting a bride-to-be investigated and ending with a case of forcing a girl to marry someone just for political benefits, we beam upon a lot of social issues across 9 episodes of Made in Heaven.

While the founders of Made in Heaven have to deal with their conscience of helping others, they themselves have to deal with problems like social stigma and infidelity. While Karan goes through a lot of problems because of being gay, Tara faces betrayal by her best friend Faiza Naqvi (Kalki Koechlin) My favorite scene in the series is when Ramesh Gupta (Vinay Pathak) tells Karan that he is very brave to tell the world about his orientation, a lot of people have families.

The series has remarkably shown how a middle-class girl with middle-class values gives working practical suggestions to solve family issues of the higher class people of the society. Shivani Raghuvanshi as Jaspreet “Jazz” Kaur is refreshingly sweet. You should also look for the narrative at the end of every episode, given by the official photographer of the wedding planners, Kabir (Shashank Arora) in his deep yet playful voice.

The series also features incredible actors like Vijay Raaz, Dalip Tahil, Suchitra Pillai, Deepti Naval, Neena Gupta, Pulkit Samrat, Manjot Singh and Vikrant Massey among others with brilliantly carved roles for them. Created by Zoya Akhtar and Reema Kagti, this web series will keep you hooked until the end. Excel entertainment really knows about backing the right horse.

There is no hint if the second season will drop or no, but the climax of season 1 of Made in Heaven has solved all the problems. In any case, we will be waiting. Let me end the review by a dialogue of Kabir which is apt for Made in Heaven, “Its a blockbuster Baby”
